Commodore's Welcome

                      Welcome to Henderson Harbor Yacht Club!

We are a family oriented, volunteer-based yacht club that promotes all forms of boating, water activities and water safety and we serve as the sailing headquarters and center for camaraderie in Henderson Harbor and the entire east end of Lake Ontario!

 Our location in the sheltered waters of Henderson Harbor places us close to the prime cruising areas of the Bay of Quinte and the Thousand Islands. We are also a short sail to the beautiful city of Kingston, Ontario, where there’s always something going on!

  The sheltered waters of Henderson Harbor and the adjacent Black River Bay offer some of the finest sailing opportunities to be found on Lake Ontario. For those who wish to test their skills the big lake is just around the corner and in no time at all you’ll be beyond the sheltered waters and out where adventure awaits.  HHYC has reciprocal arrangements with other Yacht Clubs and we welcome guests from around the lake, and indeed, from around the world! Our reciprocal policy, as well as those of other clubs around the lake can be found on the Lake Ontario Club Cruising Association website, LOCCA.Org.

  In addition to our waterfront and docking facilities the club has a full kitchen, bar, indoor and outdoor seating, and many social and sailing activities throughout the summer season. We have several levels of boating and non-boating social memberships which offer something to everyone who aspires to join with us.

 We also have a Cape Dory Typhoon Weekender, “SPIRIT” that all members have access to through an annual subscription. At 18’6” the Typhoon is a simple well-designed sloop rigged sailboat that is fast enough for the seasoned sailor and friendly enough for beginners. With a subscription to Spirit members can get into a sailboat without the hassle of boat ownership.

New sailors can also take advantage of our partnership with Henderson Harbor Watersports Program that offers instructional classes on sailing during the summer. We are also in the process of expanding our kayak and paddleboard facilities so members can take full advantage of the calm waters near our club.

 Finally, I must say that Henderson Harbor is one of the prettiest places on earth! Visitors to our club have been overwhelmed by the natural beauty of the harbor, which rivals anything the New England coast or Chesapeake Bay has to offer.
